Spray Tanning FAQ
General
We recommend scheduling your spray tan appointment at least two days before your event or vacation. This timing allows the tan to develop fully and ensures a flawless, natural-looking glow.
For weddings, we advise booking a trial tan well in advance of the big day so that we can customize and perfect your ideal shade. This trial helps ensure your spray tan complements your wedding look perfectly, giving you confidence and radiance when you walk down the aisle.
Our custom spray tans generally last between 5 to 7 days. The duration can vary based on several factors including your individual skin type, daily activities, and how well you follow recommended aftercare. To maximize the life of your tan, we advise avoiding excessive sweating, prolonged water exposure, and using gentle, moisturizing skincare products. Proper maintenance ensures your tan fades evenly and maintains its natural, radiant appearance throughout the week.
At Golden Hour Beauty, we believe your skin’s health is just as important as a flawless glow! Our custom airbrush spray tans offer a much safer alternative to traditional UV tanning, which exposes your skin to harmful ultraviolet rays that can cause premature aging and increase the risk of skin cancer. Spray tans use DHA, the active ingredient that reacts with the outer layer of your skin to create a natural-looking tan without any UV exposure. Best of all, DHA is FDA-approved for external use, meaning it’s a trusted and safe option to achieve that radiant golden glow.
We specialize in custom airbrush spray tans tailored specifically to your skin type and tone. Our expert technicians use a personalized blend of bronzers and tanning solutions, carefully mixed to complement your natural complexion. This approach guarantees the most natural, evenly toned tan possible, completely avoiding the undesirable orange hue often associated with OTC tanning lotions. By focusing on a custom mix designed for your unique skin, we deliver a flawless, sun-kissed glow that looks authentic and enhances your natural beauty.
Absolutely! Many of our clients at Golden Hour Beauty love getting a spray tan before their vacations to achieve a beautiful, natural glow without sun damage. To preserve your spray tan while enjoying the ocean or pool, it’s essential to apply a barrier of lotion sunscreen before entering the water. This protects your tan from fading quickly. After swimming, use the outdoor showers to rinse off salt, chlorine, and sunscreen residue gently. Remember, only use lotion-based sunscreen—not spray sunscreen—because sprays often contain alcohol, which can strip away your tan faster. Following these simple steps helps you maintain that golden glow throughout your trip!
We offer two main spray tan options tailored to your preferences and schedule. Our signature traditional solution requires an 8-hour rinse time, allowing the tan to develop fully for a rich, long-lasting glow ideal for those who can plan ahead. Alternatively, our rapid tanning solution provides flexibility with a shorter rinse time ranging from as little as 1 hour up to 4 hours, depending on how deep and intense you want your tan to be. The rapid option is perfect for clients seeking a quicker turnaround without compromising on a natural, customized airbrush finish. Choosing between these options lets you balance your desired tan depth with your timeline, ensuring a beautiful result that suits your needs.
For the best spray tan results we recommend getting your manicure and pedicure a day or two before your appointment. This timing helps you avoid soaking your hands and feet immediately after your tan, which can compromise the longevity and evenness of your spray tan. By spacing these treatments, you ensure your skin is smooth and prepped without risking any premature fading or patchiness, leaving you with a flawless, radiant glow that lasts.
We recommend avoiding spray tanning if you currently have a sunburn. Sunburned skin is more prone to peeling, which can cause your spray tan to develop patchily and unevenly, diminishing the quality and appearance of your tan. For the best, long-lasting results from our spray tans, please wait until your skin has fully healed and is free from any irritation before booking your appointment. This ensures a smooth, flawless finish that highlights the luxury experience we provide at Golden Hour Beauty.
Yes, Golden Hour Beauty provides custom spray tans for children and teens. To ensure safety and comfort, we require a signed waiver from a parent or guardian before the appointment. Additionally, for clients under the age of 13, we ask that a parent or guardian be present in the room throughout the entire spray tan session. Clients under the age of 18 must wear bottoms. These policies help us create a secure and welcoming environment while delivering a flawless, natural-looking tan that your young client will love. We’re excited to bring the Golden Hour glow to all ages with care and professionalism!
At Golden Hour Beauty, we prioritize the safety and well-being of our clients, especially expecting mothers. We recommend avoiding spray tanning during the first trimester of pregnancy. After the first trimester, spray tans can be safely applied if extra precautions are taken. The most important measure is to protect your mucous membranes—such as your eyes, nose, and mouth—during the session to minimize any exposure to tanning solution. Our trained technicians will ensure your comfort and safety throughout the process, providing a custom airbrush tan that aligns with best practices for pregnant clients. If you have concerns, we encourage you to consult your healthcare provider before scheduling your appointment.
At Golden Hour Beauty, we want your spray tan to look flawless and last as long as possible! Retinol skincare products can impact your spray tan because they promote skin cell turnover, which can cause flaky or peeling skin. This can lead to your tan fading faster and appearing patchy. To achieve the most beautiful, even tan, we highly recommend avoiding retinol for at least 3 days before your appointment and continuing to steer clear of it for 3 days after your spray tan. Following this simple step will help your tan develop evenly and glow beautifully throughout its duration!
