The Ultimate Before & After Care Guide
Preparation is the foundation of a professional spray tan. Our expert guide ensures your sun-kissed skin stays deep, even, and luminous from day one through the week.
Before Your Tan
Preparation is the key to a flawless, long-lasting glow. Follow these simple steps 24 hours before your appointment for the best results.
Exfoliate Thoroughly
Scrub off dead skin cells 24 hours before your session. Focus on dry areas like elbows, knees, and ankles for a smooth application.
Hair Removal
Any shaving or waxing should be completed at least 24 hours before your tan to allow pores to close and prevent any irritation.
Product Check
Use only sulfate - free body washes and cleansers. Product recommendation Aviva Deep Clean Exfoliant. Temporarily discontinue the use of Retinol or Vitamin A products.
Fresh Skin Only
Come to your appointment with clean skin. Avoid lotions, oils, perfumes, and deodorants, as these can create a barrier for the tanning mist.
Attire
Come to your appointment with loose, dark clothing, and slip on shoes. No bra or tight waist band. Long sleeves and long pants are preferred to prevent skin-to-skin contact & protect your furniture.
During Your Tan
You’re welcome to wear a swimsuit, sports bra and underwear, or go nude. Male clients must wear underwear. We also provide disposable thongs, nipple covers, and hairnets for your comfort.
The Post-Glow Ritual
The longevity of your spray tan depends on how you treat it. For the first 24 hours, avoid sweating and excessive water contact. After your initial rinse, keep your skin hydrated by drinking plenty of water and moisturizing twice daily with oil-free lotions to prevent uneven fading and maintain that luminous bronze.
After Care
The First Rinse
After the recommended processing time, perform a brief 1–2 minute rinse using lukewarm water only, ensuring you avoid soaps or cleansers during this initial stage. Use your hands in gentle, circular motions to assist in removing the cosmetic bronzer, then carefully pat the skin dry with a soft towel. Should any streaking appear post-rinse, simply repeat the process briefly; rest assured that any visible residue is merely the topical bronzer being washed away, leaving your developed tan intact.
Activities to Avoid
To ensure the longevity and evenness of your tan, please avoid swimming, sauna use, and excessive physical activity for at least 12 hours following your appointment. Adhering to this window prevents moisture-induced streaking or blotchiness and protects the tan from premature fading.
The First Shower
Wait 12 hours after your first rinse to take a shower. Use sulfate - free body washes. Product recommendation Aviva Shower Glow to help extend and prolong your tan. Always pat dry after your shower to avoid any exfoliation of the skin.
Hydrate Daily
Hydration is key to keeping that spray tan looking great! Apply a sent - free, oil-free moisturizer twice daily to keep skin hydrated and lock in the tan. Product recommendation Aviva Velvet Soft.
Products to Avoid
Steer clear of harsh chemicals, AHAs/BHAs and physical exfoliants until you are ready for your next tan session.
Starting Day 3
Incorporate a high-quality tan extender into your daily skincare regimen to maintain a, hydrated, and long-lasting, glow. Regular application prevents premature fading and patchiness by locking in essential moisture. Pay special attention to the face, as this area tends to exhibit faster color loss than the rest of the body. Product recommendation Aviva Skin Glow.
